About The Position

The Vice President of Global Tax Operations is accountable for reviewing all aspects of accounting for income taxes and financial reporting, overseeing U.S. and International tax compliance (Federal, State, Local and International), forecasting cash taxes and the effective tax rate for FP&A, implementing tax transformation and technology, managing U.S. and International tax audit and controversies, managing transfer pricing, identifying tax credits and incentives and providing tax advice for Mergers & Acquisitions. The incoming leader will report to the SVP of Global Tax and be part of the CAO’s extended leadership team. This position is eligible to operate as a fully remote role.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Tax, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 12-15 years of high-quality tax experience, ideally with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and “in-house” multinational corporate environment.
  • Experience working with domestic and international tax issues that impact other functions such as Controllership, Treasury, Legal, Regulatory, Financial Reporting and FP&A, Procurement and Security.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with proven ability to build relationships within and beyond the tax function (e.g., Controllership, Legal, Regulatory, Treasury, Investor Relations, FP&A, Procurement, Security etc.).
  • Demonstrable experience in driving tax transformation, including exploiting technology (financial systems, tax software, and analytical tools) to create efficiencies and deliver value.
  • Proven people leader who consistently attracts, manages, and retains high performing teams.
  • Demonstrated and distinguished track record in creating team-based environments that are committed to excellence, accountability, and professional development
  • Strong working technical knowledge of U.S. Federal, State, Local and International tax issues impacting a global organization.
  • Must possess detailed understanding and application of ASC 740 and relevant aspects of U.S. GAAP tax financial reporting for both U.S. and non-US reporting units.
  • Proven proficiency in understanding, analyzing and integrating tax planning strategies into the financial reporting process.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage the preparation and consolidation of interim and annual income tax provisions for LPL’s global operations and coordinate with executive management regarding all SEC reporting requirements including, but not limited to, Form 10-Q and Form 10-K.
  • Ensure effective quarterly coordination with company’s external auditors (Deloitte) and related Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • Partner with SVP Global Tax and rest of the Finance leadership team to identify, assess, and implement Global and U.S. tax planning opportunities. These can include but are not limited to issues related to U.S. tax legislation, Federal, State, Local and International tax issues associated with our revenue streams, transfer pricing, tax credits and incentives (including R&D and foreign tax credits), investments in people/real estate/technology, accounting methods/elections and state tax positions.
  • Partner with SVP Global Tax and rest of the Finance leadership team to identify, assess, and implement Global and U.S. tax planning opportunities
  • Research appropriate tax accounting treatment for complex tax matters and proactively identify the proper tax reporting and relevant disclosures in the financial statements. This includes the U.S. taxation of international operations (i.e. Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income “GILTI”)), Base Erosion Profit Shifting (“BEPS”) and related Pillars and the taxation of partnerships.
  • Analyze the tax impacts of both actual and intended cross-border cash movement and communicate to Treasury including withholding taxes and goods and services taxes (“GST”).
  • Partner with the FP&A group to forecast LPL’s taxable income, budgeted effective tax rate, cash tax payments/receipts, and utilization of deferred taxes.
  • Leads purchase accounting tax analyses for acquisitions (e.g., valuation of deferred taxes, inventory step‑ups, and §338 elections).
  • Coordinates with Corporate Development on diligence requests and ensures all tax deliverables (e.g., quality of earnings, tax exposure schedules) are completed accurately and on timeline.
  • Supports the Global Head of Tax and Corporate Development in transaction structuring by modeling tax implications of proposed structures.
  • Review the tax considerations of legal entity rationalization, shutdown and mergers/dissolutions.
  • Effectively manage Federal, State, Local and International audit issues and their resolution.
  • Identify, develop and execute process improvement opportunities, including leveraging the use of technology to automate, create efficiencies and greater value-added analysis.
