About The Position

The Vice President of Fleet Management provides executive leadership for the acquisition, maintenance, compliance, inventory and disposal of all fleet assets to include heavy equipment machinery. This position will optimize lifecycle costs, drive sustainability initiatives and ensure absolute safety across all operations. Additionally, this position will contribute to high-level strategic decision-making with other company leaders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive fleet & heavy equipment maintenance management, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong financial background (P&L management)
  • Deep knowledge of DOT/OSHA compliance
  • Experience with fleet-tracking technologies.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment, tractors, and alternative fuel integrations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with ownership and senior leadership as well as front-line management and teammates.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills: Capacity to identify operational issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
  • Project and time management: Skill in managing multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines efficiently.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops long-term asset lifecycle strategies, budgeting needs, and capital planning.
  • Ensures fleet & equipment meets all federal, state, and local regulatory mandates.
  • Negotiates contracts for parts, fuel, telematics and maintenance providers, manages procurement, and handles relationships with parts and service providers.
  • Deep knowledge of preventive maintenance schedules, basic mechanical tools and safety standards.
  • High proficiency in using inventory management software and asset-tracking systems to optimize maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure fleet license plates, renewals and additions, as well as titles are purchased, issued and accounted for.
  • Ensure MCS-150 filings and UCR filings are completed.
  • Maintain company asset list (fleet & heavy equipment).
  • Responsible for fuel tracking and reporting.
