About The Position

Provides fiscal administration to the institution. Participates as a member of the President’s cabinet to advise the university president on matters pertaining to the financial administration of the university, including, financial analysis, investment management, and supervision of Accounting Services, Planning, Budget and Business Analytics, Information Technology, Purchasing, Receiving, Bookstore, Dining Services, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and Postal Operations. Participates in discussions addressing capital facility planning. Serves as the chief financial officer for the institution.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree- Master’s or doctoral degree in accounting, public administration, human resources, or other related field preferred.
  • Seven years of progressive experience in Higher Education administration or other executive-level experience.
  • Experience in Cash and Investment Management and Federal Grant and Contract Management.
  • Proven proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and preparation of financial statements.
  • Supervisory and management experience.
  • Strong financial analytical and communication skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • PC applications expertise– spreadsheets, word processing, Google platform, Banner, and presentations.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Federal taxation of Not-for-profit organizations
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Accounting Services, Planning, Budget and Business Analytics, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashier, payroll, fixed assets, grant accounting, annual internal and external financial statements, and audits.
  • Oversee Information Technology, Purchasing, Receiving, Bookstore, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and Postal Operations.
  • Provide financial analysis of various programs, operations on a University-wide perspective, and for individual offices and departments across campus.
  • Oversees the institution's Food Service contract.
  • Manage the investment function of the University’s institutional and endowment investment pools; Serve as the Public Treasurer for the University.
  • Assist in capital acquisition and financing, including issuance of revenue bonds.
  • Serve on foundation boards – Southern Utah University Foundation and Utah Shakespeare Festival Foundation
  • Serve as the chair of the University Benefits Committee
  • Other duties as assigned
