About The Position

Our client, a mission-driven media organization, is seeking a transformational Vice President of Content to lead the evolution of a modern, audience-centered media ecosystem across digital, broadcast, social, audio, newsletters, live experiences, and emerging platforms. This is not a traditional newsroom leadership role. The organization is looking for a strategic media executive who understands how content, audience behavior, technology, community engagement, and operational systems work together to drive growth, relevance, and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate has successfully led integrated media teams through transformation, understands digital-first audience engagement, and knows how to build scalable systems that connect journalism, storytelling, participation, and innovation into one cohesive strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years leading content, editorial, media, publishing, streaming, or integrated digital media organizations
  • Experience overseeing multi-platform content ecosystems at scale
  • Proven success growing digital audiences, newsletters, memberships, subscriptions, engagement, retention, or participation-based platforms
  • Strong understanding of audience behavior, digital consumption trends, and engagement strategy
  • Demonstrated success redesigning workflows, integrating teams, and leading operational change
  • Experience building scalable systems within high-growth or evolving organizations
  • Deep understanding of digital publishing, social ecosystems, newsletters, video, livestreaming, audio, and emerging media formats
  • Experience developing audience participation initiatives, contributor ecosystems, or community-driven storytelling models
  • Practical understanding of AI-assisted workflows and emerging technologies impacting media and content operations
  • Ability to leverage technology to improve efficiency, scalability, and audience experience
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to align stakeholders, lead teams through change, and translate strategy into execution
