About The Position

The Vice President of Residential Construction provides strategic and operational leadership for the i3 residential construction organization in a high-volume, results-driven environment. This leader drives construction performance through effective team leadership, process excellence, cost and schedule management, vendor oversight, quality and safety execution, and a culture of continuous improvement to achieve business objectives and deliver exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in residential construction/operations, production operations, or a related domain, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading large, cross-functional teams in a goal-oriented, production-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing complex process flows, SOPs, and operational frameworks in a high-volume environment. Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Strong track record of cost management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost-control initiatives, and unit-cost optimization. Demonstrated ability to reduce cost per unit, improve efficiency, and scale operations effectively.
  • Extensive vendor management experience: vendor performance management, vendor risk oversight, and proven savings achievements.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven mindset; able to interpret operational and financial data to drive decisions.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; able to influence at the executive level and across functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing residential construction team.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for permitting, construction production, and service activation functions to achieve organizational objectives across assigned markets. Maintain accountability for workforce planning, operational processes, vendor performance, and cost management.
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with Business Development, Design, Construction Support, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Customer Operations to drive market performance, support growth initiatives, and ensure successful execution of business objectives.
  • Establish and communicate clear goals, performance expectations, and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with business strategy.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement while driving achievement of quality, schedule, cost, and customer experience objectives.
  • Drive workforce planning, skills development, succession planning, and cross-functional team alignment to ensure the organization operates smoothly in a changing environment and can execute at scale.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve robust process flows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workflow frameworks optimized for a production environment (high volumes, tight timelines, complex dependencies).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational inefficiencies, process gaps, and quality risks, implementing corrective and preventive actions to enhance performance, consistency, and customer outcomes.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including production throughput, cycle time, quality, budget performance, activation readiness, and cost per unit, ensuring accountability and achievement of operational targets.
  • Own the residential construction operations cost structure—including fixed and variable cost elements—and actively manage to drive cost efficiency, margin improvement, and budget adherence.
  • Partner with Finance and senior leadership to develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce unit costs, improve cost predictability, leverage economies of scale, and eliminate waste or non-value-added activities.
  • In partnership with Supply Chain, ensure competitive sourcing, contract negotiation of terms, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), pricing, and service levels to ensure vendors deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide executive leadership for the strategy, governance, and execution of vendor/contractor relationships that support residential construction operations, performance monitoring, and renewal/exit decisions.
  • Establish and maintain vendor performance frameworks (scorecards, KPIs, periodic reviews), to ensure contract compliance, manage vendor risk, and maintain continuous improvement of the vendor ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with procurement, legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure vendor spend aligns with financial objectives and operational requirements.
  • Monitor vendor performance against quality, schedule, safety, and cost metrics, implementing corrective action plans when necessary to ensure consistent delivery of expected outcomes.
  • Develop and execute the long-term residential construction strategy, including capacity planning, geographic expansion, workforce scaling, process optimization, and operational readiness to support company growth objectives.
  • Drive organizational performance through data-driven decision-making, leveraging operational, financial, quality, safety, and customer metrics to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and ensure achievement of business objectives.
  • Provide regular executive reporting and insight on operational performance, cost drivers, vendor performance, risk, and opportunities.
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all residential construction activities.
  • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, local, and company safety requirements, building codes, permitting requirements, and quality standards.
  • Establish quality assurance and quality control processes that drive consistent workmanship, reduce rework, and improve customer outcomes.
  • Monitor safety and quality performance metrics and implement corrective actions as necessary.
