About The Position

With over 150 years of experience, Lawrence Hall provides a wide range of therapeutic, wellness, and skill development services to Chicagoland youth, families, and communities affected by lasting trauma. We foster healing and growth through empowerment, respect, safety, and teamwork. We are seeking a visionary, deeply compassionate, and strategic leader to step into the role of Vice President of Affirming Care. In this executive role, you will serve as Lawrence Hall's designated LGBTQ Youth and Employee Advocate. You will lead our affirming care portfolio - including transitional living, community homes, clinical services, and case management-ensuring that LGBTQIA+ youth and staff across our entire agency continuum are fiercely supported, celebrated, and empowered. Requirements

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or PsyD (or the ability to obtain Illinois licensure within 6 months of hire).
  • CWEL Certification (or the ability to become certified within 90 days of hire).
  • Valid driver's license (IL, IN, or WI) and access to a reliable personal vehicle with proof of insurance.
  • Ability to pass a background check, DCFS history screening, and drug screen.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including moving from kneeling to standing frequently and utilizing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) physical restraint techniques for youth safety when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of experience in child welfare (including direct work with LGBTQIA+ youth) with at least 5 years of administrative leadership and program development experience.
  • Deep knowledge of childhood trauma, adolescent development, and healing-centered, strength-based practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the agency's leading voice on SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression) subject matter.
  • Create and execute a comprehensive SOGIE Strategy aligned with Lawrence Hall's mission, and represent the agency in vital advocacy spaces like the Illinois LGBTQ Round Table and the National SOGIE Center.
  • Provide high-quality leadership and direct supervision to Site Coordinators, LGBTQ Clinicians, and Case Managers.
  • Champion youth voice, self-determination, and leadership in all program development.
  • Lead Lawrence Hall's Queer Collective (our staff affinity group) and collaborate with the READY Committee to ensure our workplace and residential environments are safe, inclusive, and deeply affirming.
  • Oversee the strategic direction, growth, and fiscal integrity of our LGBTQIA+ portfolios.
  • Ensure high-fidelity implementation of the CARE model, the Youth Acceptance Project (YAP), and Appendix K.
  • Partner with fellow VPs, the VP of People & Culture, and the CFO to align services, advocate for equitable workplace practices, manage risk, and expand community-based behavioral health streams.
