About The Position

Northeastern Junior College (NJC) is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as the Vice President of Academic Affairs. NJC is a rural college within the Colorado Community College System, located in Sterling, Colorado. The college supports a full campus experience for students, including residence halls, dining, clubs, and athletics, alongside providing the highest quality education. The Vice President of Academic Affairs reports to the NJC President.

Requirements

  • Teaching and curriculum development experience in a community college or institution of higher education.
  • Experience in community college or other higher education administration or relatable employment.
  • Experience with academic/transfer and occupational/career education curricula and accreditation.
  • Effective writing and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to maintain an open-door management style.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills supporting timely decision making.
  • Experience in a leadership position supporting subordinate growth and teamwork.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of recognizing developing challenges and opportunities and developing solutions.
  • Willingness to engage with community and business through advisory councils and informal meetings to improve academic offerings and quality.
  • Master's or comparable degree required in an academic discipline or administration/leadership.
  • Must be eager to continue learning outside of professional expertise and areas of comfort.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Provides the administrative direction and leadership for all educational delivery systems of the college, as well as academic quality and control consistent with established higher education policies and procedures.
  • Plans, develops, maintains, and evaluates the effectiveness of instruction across all academic (transfer), extended studies, on-line, and career/technical (occupational/vocational) instructional curricula, including programs and courses.
  • Serves as the key liaison between NJC and other universities and colleges, developing and overseeing partnerships that enhance student opportunities.
  • Serves as the Chief Academic Officer for the college when representing the college to the Higher Learning Commission, federal and state agencies.
