About The Position

The Vice President, Leveraged Finance will work closely with senior bankers to structure and lead loan & high yield transactions for leveraged buyouts, acquisition financings, recapitalizations, restructurings and refinancing. This role involves overseeing analysts, training junior resources, and leading the development of pitch materials for clients. The position requires checking financial models, working with various internal and external stakeholders on credit processes and client servicing, and providing support in due diligence and underwriting. Responsibilities also include assisting in the negotiation of commitment terms and preparing marketing materials. A key aspect of the role is to proactively identify and escalate operational risks and control deficiencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Credit agreements and other debt facility documentation including intercreditor agreements and fronting letters.
  • 5 years of experience in Financial Advisory in Infrastructure.
  • 3 years of experience in Energy, power, and infrastructure debt distribution.
  • 3 years of experience in Investment Grade Capital Markets.
  • 1 year of experience in High Yield Syndicate.
  • 1 year of experience in Institutional and Bank Loan Syndication.
  • 1 year of experience in Leveraged Finance.
  • FINRA Series 63 and Series 79 licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Structure and lead loan & high yield transactions for leveraged buyouts, acquisition financings, recapitalizations, restructurings and refinancing.
  • Oversee analysts in support of senior level executives in all stages of the transaction.
  • Train and mentor junior level resources.
  • Lead the development of pitch materials for clients across a variety of sectors that present strategic and financing views, company analysis and financing terms.
  • Check financial models with sensitized capital structure and operating assumption scenarios.
  • Work directly with senior leveraged finance and industry bankers, internal risk teams, corporate banking, liability management, ratings advisors and other areas of the bank on internal credit processes and external client servicing.
  • Provide support in all aspects of the due diligence and underwriting process including review of data-room documentation and third-party materials; evaluation of financial statements, historical trends and projections; and diligence meetings/calls with management and other subject matter experts.
  • Assist in the negotiation of commitment terms, covenants, and relevant credit document provisions.
  • Prepare marketing and offering materials for leveraged loans or high yield bonds (including rating agency materials, lender and roadshow presentations, information memorandums and prospectuses).
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business.
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks identified to line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
