About The Position

Silver Cross Hospital is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to join its executive leadership team. This role is crucial in developing and implementing a comprehensive human capital strategy that aligns with the hospital's mission, vision, and strategic goals. The Vice President will oversee all HR functions, focusing on attracting, developing, and retaining a skilled workforce to ensure exceptional patient care. Key responsibilities include leading enterprise workforce planning, addressing talent challenges, enhancing recruitment and retention, and building talent pipelines. The position also involves strategic oversight of total rewards (compensation, benefits, recognition), leadership development, and succession planning. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, this role serves as a trusted advisor on workforce matters and contributes to executive decision-making. The Vice President will lead a team of HR professionals across talent acquisition, total rewards, employee relations, employee health, organizational development, and HR operations.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of progressive human resources leadership experience, preferably within a healthcare or similarly complex environment.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable initiatives.
  • Strong collaborator who can build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates integrity, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Seasoned healthcare HR executive with demonstrated expertise across talent strategy, workforce planning, employee relations, compensation, and organizational development.
  • Proven ability to align HR strategy with business goals and drive measurable operational and engagement outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen with knowledge of healthcare operations, financial drivers, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading culture transformation, change management, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and the Board on human capital strategy and succession planning.
  • Skilled in building relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Advanced degree required (MBA, MHA, or related).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and play a critical role in shaping and advancing a comprehensive human capital strategy.
  • Provide executive-level oversight of all human resources functions, ensuring the attraction, development, and retention of a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
  • Lead enterprise workforce planning efforts in partnership with the President and CEO and senior leadership team.
  • Develop strategies to address workforce challenges, enhance recruitment and retention efforts, and build sustainable talent pipelines.
  • Provide strategic oversight of total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, and recognition.
  • Oversee the ongoing development of leadership and professional development programs, supporting succession planning.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on all workforce and organizational matters and contribute to executive-level decision-making.
  • Lead a team of HR professionals across key functional areas, ensuring alignment and effectiveness.
  • Recruit, retain, and support a talented, diverse team of operational and clinical leaders.
  • Foster a vibrant culture of engagement, patient-centeredness, and mission-orientation.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team; evaluate and optimize organizational structure.
  • Nurture a welcoming and inclusive environment advancing equity and valuing diversity.
