About The Position

The Vice President is responsible for supporting the statewide Schools of Nursing, Health Sciences, Public Affairs, and Social Services and for providing professional leadership as the subject-matter expert on workforce alignment/development initiatives in the respective sector(s) to foster relevance, quality, and consistency across academic courses, skills training, and other programming. The Vice President collaborates with System, Campus, and Foundation Leadership, and applicable Ivy Tech Deans and Curriculum Committees to ensure the College provides the level of programs, services, and credentials appropriate for the communities and service regions it serves. The Vice President uses labor market data, voice-of-the-customer insights, and knowledge of evolving national and state-level trends within the supported sector(s) to develop strategies and execute plans for the school(s). The Vice President cultivates, stewards, and represents the College in establishing relationships and strategic partnerships with employers, professional organizations, and associations to achieve the College’s mission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required, preferably in a field related to the assigned sectors.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ related experience in nursing, healthcare, public administration, or social work.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Must have the ability to work as a team member and also be self‑directed and able to work on their own initiative.
  • Must be able to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industry training, workforce development, educational administration, or teaching at the post-secondary level or other related activity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the subject matter expert on workforce alignment/development in the supported sector(s).
  • Enables recommendations for future academic programs, training, and certifications by remaining current with industry trends, employment projections, and labor-market insights.
  • Advises campuses with initiatives related to the respective programs offered in the school(s).
  • Promotes workforce relevance and alignment in curricula and skills training offerings.
  • Collaborates with Career Link to ensure alignment of skills training and employability skills with academic programs, workforce priorities, and industry needs.
  • Collaborates with Academic Affairs on the development, consolidation/merger, and sunsetting of programs/credentials.
  • Collaborates with and supports the Ivy Tech Foundation on related development activities.
  • Engages and collaborates with key employers across the state.
  • Presents to industry groups, state leaders, etc., about Ivy Tech, related programs, and capabilities.
  • Cultivates opportunities for Systems and Campus leadership to meet with industry and employers.
  • Analyzes statewide enrollment, retention, completion, success, and other relevant data trends related to workforce alignment and relevance to serve as a strategic advisor to campus teams.
  • Engages and provides executive leadership and oversight to applicable Ivy Tech curriculum committees and provides relevant workforce alignment data; meets with the related committees as appropriate.
  • Coordinates with the College’s Government Affairs team to determine legislative priorities; supports legislative efforts related to workforce alignment/development efforts in the respective sector(s).
  • Coordinates with the College’s legal team to review relevant legal issues related to workforce alignment/development efforts in the respective sector(s).
  • Leads respective Assistant Vice President(s) and campus Deans to develop the School(s)’ strategic direction; conducts School meetings as needed.
  • Direct statewide inventories and make recommendations for equipment acquisitions to ensure quality program outcomes and promote efficiency.
  • Assures programs comply with accreditation policies/standards; provides executive leadership for programmatic accreditation activities.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources on strategies to recruit diverse and qualified faculty.
  • Facilitates opportunities for student internships/externships/clinicals/experiential learning, etc.
  • Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.
