About The Position

Saab Inc. is seeking a dynamic and results driven leader to serve as Vice President and General Manager for Land Systems, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, to lead and grow its Land Systems business. This executive position reports directly to the CEO, Saab, Inc., and is responsible for the P&L, strategic growth, and operational execution of the defense portfolio, including advanced weapons systems, munitions, live training and simulation, and other land domain capabilities. This role serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is accountable for delivering sustainable growth, strengthening program execution, and advancing Saab’s position in the U.S. land domain. Further this role is responsible for the effective and efficient stand up of one of the United States’ first brand new green field weapons manufacturing, integration and test facilities located in Grayling, Michigan. Operating within Saab’s global matrix organization, this leader has full accountability for the U.S. Land Systems business and partners closely with Saab AB and U.S. corporate functions to align strategy and capabilities. This role serves as the senior leader responsible for the Saab AB Business Area Dynamics portfolio in the U.S. market and is responsible for driving overall performance and results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Progressive leadership experience in the defense industry, leading mid to large-scale programs, functions, or organizations supporting DoD customers.
  • Proven track record of leading and growing a business with full P&L accountability.
  • Demonstrated success leading and scaling complex programs, organizations, or business functions.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. defense acquisition processes and customer landscape.
  • Experience operating in a matrixed, global organization with cross-functional complexity.
  • Experience supporting business growth within U.S. defense markets, including developing customer relationships and contributing to new opportunities.
  • Entrepreneurial, forward-looking leader who drives innovation, takes initiative, and delivers results in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively, influence stakeholders, and lead collaboratively across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead execution of Land Systems strategy aligned to U.S. defense market priorities.
  • Drive profitable growth through program execution excellence, capture strategy, and expansion into adjacent and emerging capabilities.
  • Strengthen Saab’s position with key U.S. DoD customers by building long-term strategic relationships and market credibility.
  • Oversee a portfolio of programs including munitions, ground combat systems, training and simulation, and expanded land domain capabilities, ensuring strong execution, risk management, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the stand-up and delivery of initial operating capability in Michigan, while appropriately leveraging Sab Inc. and Saab AB resources to ensure full operational readiness, compliance, and execution.
  • Partner closely with Saab AB and a matrixed US workforce to align strategy, capabilities, and technology transfer in support of U.S. market growth.
  • Lead overall business performance, establishing operating rhythms, performance metrics, and accountability across the organization.
  • Ensure effective resource allocation, workforce planning, and cost management to support business objectives and scalable growth.
  • Continue building and leading a high-performing team with a strong focus on accountability and clear communication.
