About The Position

The VP, FP&A Operations is a senior leader on Altium’s finance and accounting team, and the primary strategic business partner to the leader of our operations group. This position will lead finance activities for operations, provide forward-looking financial insights, drive continuous improvement, and deliver analyses that inform enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (e.g., Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics).
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analysis skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly autonomous, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint, as well as the application of AI tools.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 30%.

  • Background in consulting, corporate strategy, engineering or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, including managing workflow and performance.
  • MBA or master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience implementing and integrating financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial and economic analyses to evaluate capacity expansions, cost-savings opportunities, commercial strategies, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and present clear, data-driven business cases to senior leadership, including the CFO and CEO.
  • Lead industry and competitive analyses to inform long-range business strategy.
  • Prepare executive-level materials for Board meetings and internal business reviews.
  • Lead Cost-to-Make forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis, reporting, and decision support as needed.
  • Support M&A diligence and integration workstreams, as needed.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance; identify waste-reduction opportunities through benchmarking and zero-based analysis; and partner with plant leaders to deliver measurable improvements.
  • Assess and validate the economic return of plant investment requests (capital and operational).
  • Establish and enhance accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to support an accurate and efficient monthly close.
  • Support the month-end close process, including review of financial results and key drivers.
  • Lead variance analysis and root-cause investigations; partner with stakeholders to address drivers and improve performance.
  • Partner with the Manufacturing Leader, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement teams to strengthen economic rigor and clearly articulate value creation for new-business investments, asset upgrades, and automation programs.
  • Support M&A diligence to identify asset and site-consolidation synergy opportunities.
