About The Position

The Director of Finance is responsible for leading the financial operations of the Dental Service Organization (DSO), ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective cash flow management across multiple practices. This role directly supervises Accounts Payable, Billing, and Accounts Receivable functions and plays a key role in driving financial discipline, scalability, and operational efficiency in a fast‑growing healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising Accounts Payable, Billing, and Accounts Receivable teams.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience in multi‑site, healthcare, or service‑based environments (DSO experience strongly preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA.
  • Experience with dental or medical billing, insurance reimbursement, and revenue cycle management.
  • Familiarity with practice management systems and healthcare financial software.
  • Experience supporting growth through acquisitions or de novo practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all treasury functions, including management of operating accounts, cash positioning, and liquidity planning.
  • Monitor and optimize cash flow across the organization to support operational and strategic needs.
  • Maintain banking relationships and manage account structures and access.
  • Provide final approval on operating accounts payable disbursements (excluding designated partner and property accounts).
  • Supervise the accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, expense reimbursements, and provider payments.
  • Ensure adherence to approval workflows, purchasing controls, and audit requirements.
  • Act as a resolution advisor with vendors with whom we have performance/billing problems with.
  • Partner with leadership to manage vendor relationships and negotiate favorable payment terms.
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team for Dental Depot.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial goals.
  • Analyze financial performance across practices and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work diligently on cost saving strategies or make the existing resources more productive.
  • Create and manage invoicing partners when they require the use of any Dental Depot resources and/or assets.
  • Interface with department heads as to specific guidance on new/existing projects within their respective departments and get updated progress on those projects.
  • Compute and compile doctor compensation and management team bonuses monthly.
  • Work with the CEO, COO, and the Directors to create and implement new or modify existing company policies as laws opportunities change or present themselves, while simultaneously making sure that the current policies are being followed and carried out in the management style we have created and endorsed.
  • Interface with the new build and mergers and acquisitions team members to make sure the support staff is on task and on schedule, and that changes or problems are communicated in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide leadership oversight of billing and accounts receivable functions, including insurance billing, patient balances, and collections. Monitor key revenue cycle metrics such as days sales outstanding (DSO), aging, write‑offs, and collection rates.
  • Collaborate with operations, revenue cycle, and practice teams to improve billing accuracy and accelerate cash collections.
  • Complies with: Dental Depot policies and procedures; OSHA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; and HIPAA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • This position may complete other Administrative and Maintenance tasks as assigned by Management.
