About The Position

This role is a pivotal position within the Executive Leadership Team of Jack.org, a leading youth mental health organization in Canada. The Vice President, Finance and Administration will guide the organization's financial health, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability. Responsibilities include overseeing finance, administration, technology, risk management, and organizational operations to ensure teams have the necessary systems and resources. The role involves strategic financial planning, governance, operational excellence, and risk management, combining strategic thinking with practical leadership. Collaboration across all departments, including programs, fundraising, communications, people & culture, and operations, is essential to support strategic planning and informed decision-making. The ultimate goal is to enable Jack.org to expand its reach and deliver meaningful mental health education, advocacy, and community-building programs for youth nationwide through strong fiscal stewardship, sound governance, and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10+) years of progressive senior financial leadership experience.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of financial leadership within the nonprofit sector.
  • Extensive experience with nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting, grant compliance, restricted funding, and donor stewardship.
  • Strong knowledge of CRA charitable regulations, including T3010 filings, donation receipting, and GST/HST rebate requirements.
  • Experience with nonprofit financial systems and donor CRM platforms such as Raiser's Edge or Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams across finance, operations, information technology, human resources, and risk management.
  • Strong strategic leadership, analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lead organizational change while balancing operational excellence with mission impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for organizational financial planning and business analysis.
  • Develop financial strategies that support long-term sustainability and organizational growth.
  • Strengthen internal controls, governance practices, and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organizational processes, reporting, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and variance analyses.
  • Manage annual audits, investment oversight, and financial compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with CRA requirements, accounting standards, grant agreements, and donor restrictions.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement organizational strategic plans.
  • Evaluate organizational risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives and support enterprise-wide goal setting.
  • Ensure equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility considerations are integrated into organizational planning.
  • Monitor organizational performance and report on progress toward strategic objectives.
  • Provide executive oversight for organizational operations, including information technology, facilities, risk management, and administrative functions.
  • Lead the organization's cybersecurity strategy, technology planning, and systems modernization.
  • Support the development of data systems, reporting infrastructure, and operational processes that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and resource management.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and implement practical solutions that support organizational resilience.
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Audit, Finance & Risk Committee.
  • Prepare financial reports, strategic analyses, and risk assessments for the Board of Directors.
  • Advise the CEO and Board on financial strategy, governance, organizational performance, and emerging risks.
