About The Position

The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) at Wells Fargo delivers a comprehensive suite of banking, capital markets, and advisory solutions, including sales, trading, and research capabilities, to corporate, government, and institutional clients. The Markets division provides solutions for clients to manage exposure through various derivatives, lending, and cash products across Structured Products Group, Rates, Equities, Foreign Exchange, Municipal Products Group, and Credit Sales & Trading. Wells Fargo is seeking an Equity Research Vice President specializing in Media & Cable. This role primarily involves conducting fundamental equity research to provide differentiated industry and stock-specific content, including building and maintaining financial forecasts and stock recommendations for an institutional investor client base. A critical aspect of the role is communicating research findings to both internal stakeholders and institutional investor clients through consistent dialogue.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Securities Research experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Registration for FINRA SIE must be completed within 180 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • Registration for FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 180 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • Registration for FINRA Series 86 must be completed within 180 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • Registration for FINRA Series 87 must be completed within 180 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • Successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire
  • Meet and comply with ongoing regulatory obligations, which include periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents
  • Abide by applicable policy requirements regarding outside activities or personal investing if hired

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience within the industry or equity research industry specific sector - Media and Cable
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including high level of proficiency in modeling
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial statement analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles in the capital markets industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of investment tools such as Bloomberg or FactSet application
  • Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct the fundamental equity research process for the purpose of providing differentiated industry and stock-specific content, including building and maintaining financial forecasts and stock recommendations for our institutional investor client base
  • Communicate research findings to both internal stakeholders and our institutional investor client base via consistent dialogue
  • Build strong relationships not only with Equity Research colleagues, but also with Equity Sales, Cash Trading, Derivatives, Wealth Management, and others
  • Demonstrate subject matter knowledge within the Media and Cable sector and a strong understanding of the companies within the sector
  • Conduct rigorous analysis of financial statements and industry, company, and market data sets
  • Create and update financial models and databases
  • Author, with Senior Analyst, differentiated research content on companies and industry themes
  • Attend company and industry events; cultivate relationships with covered companies and industry contacts
  • Communicate research conclusions to internal and external constituents
  • Collaborate with research peers to support the generation of cross-sector research content
  • Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
