About The Position

The Asia Group (TAG) is a strategic and capital advisory firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., that helps clients succeed in established and emerging markets across the Indo-Pacific region. The firm's diverse team has extensive government and private sector experience and fosters a collaborative, creative, and entrepreneurial work environment. The Vice President will be a key member of TAG’s energy practice, managing client engagements across various markets and collaborating with teams in Asia and Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, possess a strong understanding of business fundamentals, energy policy, and geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific, and be adept at advising clients on energy politics, geopolitics, economic security, and supply chain issues. This role is crucial for driving firm opportunities through client management, business development, and strategy execution to guide energy companies in the U.S. and Indo-Pacific markets. The Vice President will report to the DC-based partner leading the energy practice and is expected to bring an innovative and proactive approach to develop and grow the role.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (e.g. MA/MBA/MPP) and 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably including client servicing and/or government experience, with networks in public and private sectors
  • Understanding of global energy markets and Asian political, regulatory, and macroeconomic landscapes, as well as the ability to convert these insights into actionable strategies and recommendations for commercial stakeholders
  • Highly skilled in project management and strong communicator, demonstrated by the ability to present in a polished and effective manner to business executives and other senior level interlocutors in multinational settings
  • Competency in using AI tools and platforms to enhance efficiency, innovation, and excellence
  • Effective leader and team player with high emotional intelligence and a positive, proactive, and professional attitude; eager for professional growth and open to gaining new skills and expertise
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility with respect to working and communication hours, particularly when coordinating with clients and TAG team members located across the Indo-Pacific.

  • Candidates are expected to work in-person at the TAG Washington, DC office five days per week.

  • Familiarity with generative AI platforms or a growth mindset toward emerging technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support energy practice partner in servicing global clients through project management and execution of high-value-add deliverables
  • Manage and develop high-quality executive memos, PowerPoint presentations, briefing materials, and other written products for clients and internal audiences, along with the Korea Practice members, often within a tight turnaround time
  • Proactively and diligently manage client accounts
  • Actively participate in regular client engagements, including briefing sessions and workshops, alongside partners and senior staff
  • Contribute to TAG business development objectives, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and conducting outreach
  • Cultivate and maintain a robust network of relevant stakeholder relationships in Washington, DC and Asia
  • Contribute to thought leadership activities, representing TAG at conferences, think tank events, and industry-government gatherings
