About The Position

The purpose of the role is to manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators. This involves identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, managing operations for efficiency, risk management, and compliance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The role also includes managing operational professionals, developing KPIs, ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering a safe environment for feedback, and managing attrition through retention initiatives. As a Vice President, this role is expected to contribute to strategy, drive requirements, make recommendations for change, plan resources and budgets, manage policies and processes, deliver continuous improvements, and escalate breaches. If managing a team, the VP defines jobs and responsibilities, plans for future needs, counsels employees on performance, and contributes to pay decisions. They may also lead specialists to influence department operations, aligning with strategic and tactical priorities while balancing goals and ensuring budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. For individual contributors, the role requires being a subject matter expert, guiding technical direction, leading collaborative assignments, and coaching less experienced specialists. This role requires advising key stakeholders on functional and cross-functional areas, managing and mitigating risks, demonstrating leadership in risk management and controls, and understanding organizational functions to achieve business goals. Collaboration with other areas is essential to stay updated on business activity and strategies. The role involves creating solutions through sophisticated analytical thought, in-depth analysis, and interpretative thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions, incorporating extensive research. Building and maintaining trusting relationships with stakeholders is key, using influencing and negotiating skills. Requirements

  • Extensive Loan closing experience with Par/Distressed/Equity trade closing
  • The ability to work closely with trading and settlement functions investigating multi-layered fixed income and equity transactions.
  • Prior experience with loan distributions and reorganization events
  • The aptitude to learn new software/applications
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, Clearpar, Loan IQ Broadridge, BPS, Impact, Gloss (Equity and Fixed Income systems experience)

Responsibilities

  • Identification of trends and opportunities to improve areas and develop new process and procedures through the monitoring and analysis of operation data and performance metrices.
  • Management of operations for a business area and promote efficient processes, risk management and compliance initiatives to support the bank's operations.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders (including business leaders, project manager and SMEs) and external stakeholders (including vendors and service providers) to support business operations and promote alignment with the bank's objectives and SLAs.
  • Management of operational professionals and provide guidance, coaching and support to improve colleagues' delivery quality.
  • Management and development of KPIs to measure the effectiveness of operation functions, utilising data and technology to support the identification of areas that require improvement.
  • Compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience.
  • Creation of a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, actively and regularly encourage and solicit feedback to ensure people agenda remains focused on the right areas.
  • Management of attrition by working closely with HR in implementing retention initiatives for work force.
  • Contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures.
  • If managing a team, they define jobs and responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes.
  • Lead collaborative, multi-year assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments.
  • Train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives.
  • In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.

  • Take accountability of a dynamic portfolio of Par, Near‑Par, and Distressed trades booked by the Trading Desk.
  • Navigate a fast‑paced environment where precision, sound judgment, and considerable analytical capability are essential to mitigating risk and ensuring timely settlement.
  • Partner closely with trading, settlements, and other key functions to resolve highly detailed fixed‑income and equity transactions, while applying your knowledge across loan distributions, restructurings, and system workflows.
