About The Position

G3 Innovative Solutions is currently seeking a Vice President of Defense Programs to lead and grow G3’s Department of Defense portfolio. This senior leadership position will report directly to the President & CEO and will be responsible for driving growth, strengthening customer and industry relationships, supporting capture and proposal activities, and providing executive-level oversight of G3 employees and programs at the PMO level. The Vice President of Defense Programs will serve as a key member of G3’s leadership team and will be expected to balance strategic growth responsibilities with hands-on program oversight. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting DoD customers, leading Federal IT or mission support programs, managing program managers and technical teams, and identifying new opportunities for contract expansion and business growth. This position requires a proven leader who understands the Federal and Defense contracting environment, can engage confidently with senior government and industry stakeholders, and can ensure G3 delivers high-quality, responsive, and mission-focused support across its Defense programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, engineering, cybersecurity, management, or a related field.
  • 12–15 years of Federal contracting, Defense program management, business development, capture, or operational leadership experience.
  • 8–10 years of experience supporting Department of Defense customers, programs, contracts, or mission environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Federal IT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, end-user support, field services, enterprise operations, or professional services programs.
  • Experience leading program managers, project leads, technical teams, and/or contractor personnel in a Federal contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of DoD contracting, including task orders, IDIQs, BPAs, GSA Schedules, CTAs, subcontracting, prime/subcontractor relationships, and contract performance expectations.
  • Proven ability to support growth activities, including pipeline development, opportunity qualification, capture planning, teaming, proposal development, and customer engagement.
  • Experience managing contract performance, staffing, customer satisfaction, deliverables, risks, schedules, and operational reporting.
  • Ability to engage professionally with senior government customers, contracting officials, industry executives, teaming partners, and internal leadership.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and executive decision-making skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and manage competing growth, delivery, staffing, and customer priorities.
  • Ability to travel as needed for customer meetings, program reviews, industry events, and business development activities.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret, Top Secret, or higher clearance.
  • Master’s degree in business, management, information technology, engineering, cybersecurity, national security, or a related field.
  • PMP, ITIL, CSM, SAFe, CISSP, CISM, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Prior military service, DoD civilian experience, or senior industry leadership supporting Defense customers.
  • Existing customer and industry relationships across the Department of Defense, National Capital Region, or major Defense markets.
  • Experience supporting agencies such as the U.S. Air Force, DISA, Defense Health Agency, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Space Force, OSD, Joint Staff, or Fourth Estate agencies.
  • Experience growing small business Defense portfolios through prime contracts, subcontracting, CTAs, mentor-protégé relationships, and strategic partnerships.
  • Experience with IT modernization, cybersecurity, CMMC, NIST 800-171, Microsoft 365, cloud migration, enterprise service desk, field services, infrastructure operations, DevSecOps, or managed IT services.
  • Experience leading programs in CMMC, ISO, or quality-managed environments.
  • Demonstrated success supporting recompetes, contract expansions, task order wins, or new Defense contract awards.
  • Strong understanding of small business Federal growth strategies, including partner development, customer call plans, capture management, and pipeline discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead growth strategy for G3’s Department of Defense portfolio, including pipeline development, opportunity qualification, customer engagement, capture support, and strategic teaming.
  • Identify, shape, and pursue new Defense opportunities aligned to G3’s capabilities, contract vehicles, past performance, and strategic growth goals.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with DoD customers, contracting officials, program managers, industry partners, prime contractors, subcontractors, and teaming partners.
  • Work directly with the President & CEO to establish Defense account plans, revenue targets, pursuit priorities, and long-term growth strategies.
  • Represent G3 in customer meetings, industry events, teaming discussions, capture strategy sessions, and proposal development activities.
  • Support proposal efforts by contributing technical, management, staffing, transition, past performance, and executive-level solution content.
  • Provide executive oversight of G3 Defense programs to ensure contract performance, customer satisfaction, staffing stability, deliverable quality, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Manage G3 program managers, project leads, and employees at the PMO level to ensure consistent delivery standards and accountability across Defense contracts.
  • Establish and maintain PMO governance processes, including performance reviews, status reporting, risk management, staffing plans, issue escalation, quality control, and customer communications.
  • Monitor program performance metrics, service-level requirements, staffing coverage, financial performance, deliverable schedules, and customer feedback.
  • Provide executive escalation support for customer concerns, staffing issues, subcontractor performance, contract risks, and operational challenges.
  • Partner with recruiting, operations, contracts, finance, and corporate leadership to support staffing, retention, onboarding, employee performance, and workforce planning.
  • Mentor and support G3 employees assigned to Defense programs, promoting a culture of accountability, professionalism, responsiveness, and mission ownership.
  • Support key personnel placement, employee development, succession planning, and workforce continuity across Defense programs.
  • Monitor portfolio-level revenue, margins, staffing burn, labor mix, and growth opportunities in coordination with the President & CEO and corporate leadership.
  • Ensure programs are delivered in alignment with G3’s quality standards, customer requirements, security expectations, and contractual obligations.
  • Support contract expansion, recompetes, modifications, task order pursuits, and adjacent growth opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of DoD market trends, customer priorities, acquisition forecasts, competitor activity, and emerging technology needs.
