About The Position

Mozart Therapeutics, headquartered in Seattle, WA, is focused on developing disease-modifying therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases that work by targeting a novel regulatory CD8 T regulatory cell network. We are looking for a Vice President, Clinical Operations to help develop, lead, and execute our clinical development strategy for therapeutic candidates in autoimmune disease. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role responsible for delivering Phase 1-3 studies with speed, quality, and capital efficiency. As a key leader within our clinical development team, you will play an integral role in shaping development strategy, overseeing clinical study execution, managing external partners, and building the clinical operations foundation needed to support future growth.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of clinical operations experience in biotech or pharma
  • Strong experience leading Phase 1–3 clinical studies in a CRO-driven model
  • Prior experience in a small biotech or start-up environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically (“roll up your sleeves”)
  • Proven success managing vendors and delivering studies within aggressive timelines
  • Deep understanding of GCP and global clinical trial regulations
  • Strong leadership, manager of people, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific field, with advanced degree or nursing degree preferred, and 15+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical clinical trial experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience managing global clinical teams and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of Phase 1–3 clinical studies from study start-up through completion, including CSR preparation
  • Translate clinical development strategy into operational plans, timelines, and budgets
  • Serve as a “player-coach,” balancing strategic leadership of the Clinical Operations team with hands-on oversight and execution
  • Build and scale fit-for-purpose clinical operations processes and infrastructure
  • Select, manage, and oversee CROs and external vendors to ensure high-quality delivery
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Program Management, Regulatory, and Finance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards
  • Manage clinical budgets with a strong focus on efficiency and resource optimization
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and support Board communications
