The Vice President of Client Management is a leadership role within the Group Insurance Distribution organization, responsible for driving profitable growth and retention across the in-force book of business. This role focuses on maximizing client value through strategic upsell and cross-sell initiatives, improving persistency, and leading successful renewal execution across a client base of 50–5,000 lives. The VPCM serves as a market-facing leader, fostering strong client and producer relationships while ensuring operational excellence and team performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the group insurance industry, with a focus on sales and/or client management
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of group insurance products, market dynamics, and industry trends
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
  • Appropriate industry licenses required
  • Ability to travel domestically, including overnight travel (up to 50%)

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive performance of the in-force book of business, including persistency, renewals, and in-force sales growth.
  • Develop and execute regional strategies to achieve growth, retention, and profitability targets.
  • Partner in the creation and execution of business plans aligned with regional and organizational goals.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing O500 client management team.
  • Provide coaching, onboarding, training, and ongoing development to enhance team capabilities and drive results.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, producers, and key stakeholders to enhance market presence.
  • Act as a trusted advisor within the local market, demonstrating deep expertise in group insurance products and industry trends.
  • Serve as a visible leader representing New York Life Group Benefit Solutions in the marketplace.
  • Partner with Regional Market Managers (RMMs) and Client Advocacy teams to resolve service escalations effectively.
  • Identify root causes and trends in client issues to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives and projects, representing the voice of the client, customer, and field.
