About The Position

The Vice President of Claims provides strategic leadership for the Claims organization, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, risk management, and achievement of business objectives. This role drives performance through leadership development, crossfunctional collaboration, vendor oversight, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, service delivery, and financial results.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 7+ years of progressive mortgage servicing default management experience, including extensive expertise in claims administration, post-foreclosure operations, investor and insurer requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale claims operations, including oversight of managers, supervisors, vendors, and third-party service providers.
  • Deep knowledge of mortgage servicing regulations, investor guidelines, mortgage insurance claims processes, foreclosure-related activities, and risk management practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of government, agency, and investor claims programs, including FHA, VA, USDA, Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac requirements, claims processes, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with executive leadership, clients, investors, regulators, government agencies, and business partners.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, insurers, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders while balancing business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and consensus-building skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve favorable business outcomes and resolve complex operational issues.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee the department’s strategic vision, operating model, performance standards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and business results.
  • Direct, coach, and develop a leadership team of managers and supervisors, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, employee engagement, succession planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide executive leadership to ensure effective internal controls, risk management practices, and compliance frameworks are maintained across all claims functions in accordance with investor, insurer, client, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Align departmental objectives, initiatives, and performance outcomes with enterprise goals and strategic priorities.
  • Serve as a key cross-functional leader, partnering with Default Servicing, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Loss Mitigation, Investor Reporting, Legal, Compliance, and other business areas to optimize end-to-end servicing processes, resolve operational challenges, and mitigate downstream impacts.
  • Lead the organization’s claims compliance strategy by ensuring adherence to investor guidelines, insurer requirements, federal regulations, and state laws while minimizing claim curtailments, denials, and associated financial risk.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, mortgage insurers, investors, clients, and industry partners to stay ahead of regulatory changes, promote best practices, and facilitate effective issue resolution.
  • Ensure organizational capacity, staffing strategies, and resource allocation support current and future business demands while promoting employee development and career growth opportunities.
  • Establish governance processes to ensure departmental policies, procedures, and controls are regularly reviewed, updated, and validated to reflect regulatory requirements, operational changes, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor operational performance through management reporting, trend analysis, and executive dashboards, ensuring timely communication of departmental results, risks, and opportunities.
  • Represent the organization during client meetings, investor reviews, regulatory examinations, due diligence engagements, litigation support activities, depositions, and other external-facing forums, as required.
  • Provide executive oversight of third-party vendors, business partners, and offshore operations, ensuring service-level commitments, quality standards, compliance requirements, and performance objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Establish vendor governance programs, including performance scorecards, compliance monitoring, and regular business reviews to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Lead monthly business reviews by evaluating operational performance, capacity planning, resource utilization, financial impacts, and vendor effectiveness, and present findings and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Sponsor and approve business process improvements, system enhancements, automation initiatives, and technology investments that improve operational efficiency, customer experience, compliance, and scalability.
  • Ensure critical operational, compliance, quality, and financial KPIs are accurately defined, monitored, and reported through enterprise analytics platforms to provide executive visibility and support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance claims performance, strengthen controls, reduce costs, improve service delivery, and support organizational growth objectives.
