About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic reinsurance leader to join the organization as Vice President, Ceded Reinsurance. In this role, you will lead the company's ceded reinsurance operations, driving innovative risk transfer solutions to optimize capital efficiency and safeguard the organization's financial strength. You will partner closely with the President of Reinsurance on board-level and strategic decisions, and act as a key advisor to senior executive leadership on reinsurance strategy, performance, and industry trends. This role is intended as a growth path toward Head of Ceded Reinsurance over the next two to three years, with scope and authority expanding as the incumbent builds a track record in the seat.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 8+ years in reinsurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing ceded re portfolios/programs in a complex (re)insurance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of reinsurance markets, contract structures, alternative risk transfer mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NAIC, Solvency II).
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams, implementing change, and driving organizational results, with readiness to grow into a Head-level seat.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influence skills, with experience or clear readiness to advise executive management and boards.
  • Sophisticated analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in reinsurance financial modeling and data-driven decision making.
  • Effective negotiator with a track record of building strategic partnerships across the reinsurance ecosystem.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPCU, ARe, or other advanced/equivalent credentials strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the President of Reinsurance to shape and execute forward-looking reinsurance strategies that align with the company's growth, capital management, and enterprise risk objectives; contribute directly to board-level strategic discussions on reinsurance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of reinsurance professionals to foster a high-performance culture focused on innovation, accountability, and excellence.
  • Oversee the design, placement, and optimization of treaty and facultative reinsurance programs, including negotiations with reinsurers and brokers to achieve best-in-class outcomes.
  • Direct and enhance contract review, drafting, and ongoing management processes to ensure alignment with underwriting objectives, regulatory compliance, and efficient claims recovery.
  • Drive advanced analytics and reporting capabilities to assess reinsurance performance, emerging risks, and market opportunities. Prepare and present strategic insights and performance updates to the President of Reinsurance and, as appropriate, C-suite and board-level stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and strengthen long-term partnerships with reinsurers, brokers, and industry bodies; serve as a company representative in the reinsurance market.
  • Ensure all ceded reinsurance activities adhere to regulatory, accounting, and internal standards; support robust risk control, governance, and audit processes.
  • Monitor industry developments, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic trends; represent the company at industry conferences and professional associations.
