Requirements

  • Eight to twelve years in business development or proposal work, ideally in or around financial or professional services, or an agency serving those clients.
  • Experience coming up through PR or communications, or moved into BD from an account or advisory background.
  • Ability to run a complex, multi-stakeholder pitch from first contact through submission.
  • Ability to write high-quality content yourself.
  • Knowledge of the financial services world, including sectors, market dynamics, and client needs from a communications partner.
  • Self-directed and comfortable owning a pipeline and setting your own priorities without much day-to-day direction.
  • Ability to juggle several live pursuits at once without letting quality slip.
  • Ability to build trust quickly and work well with senior colleagues and practice leaders across a matrixed organization.
  • Comfortable building polished, client-ready materials in PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (HubSpot a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Own financial services business development end to end, from identifying and qualifying prospects through pitch and close.
  • Develop proposals and pitch materials that speak to what each prospect actually needs.
  • Pull together pitch teams for each opportunity, working with practice leaders to bring the right expertise to the table.
  • Build and maintain a library of financial services case studies and credentials the team can reuse, keeping it current and approved.
  • Own the financial services pipeline, setting priorities and keeping pursuits moving forward.
  • Track target accounts and emerging opportunities across asset and wealth management, banking, capital markets, fintech, and crypto.
  • Watch competitor activity and market trends, and fold what you learn into how we position and pursue.
  • Cultivate relationships with key prospects and decision-makers over time, and represent the firm at industry events where it counts.
  • Keep pipeline data current in the CRM and contribute to regular BD reporting for leadership.
