About The Position

Houlihan Lokey is seeking a Vice President for its Board Advisory & Opinions group, focusing on the Energy & Infrastructure sector. This role involves providing independent strategic and financial advice to corporations, financial sponsors, and governments. The Board Advisory & Opinions group works closely with other areas of the firm to advise boards of directors and special committees on complex transactions, including understanding strategic considerations, advising on alternatives, valuing complex businesses and securities, and rendering transaction opinions. The group primarily focuses on assisting companies, boards of directors, and special committees in fulfilling fiduciary duties in high-stakes strategic situations, complex transactions, and conflict-prone dynamics, with an emphasis on rigorous financial analysis and valuation. This particular position also focuses on advising financial sponsors in conflict transactions, including continuation vehicles and cross-fund transactions, and works alongside the Corporate Finance team and other industry experts across the firm on high-profile mandates. Vice Presidents drive complex analytics, financial models, and valuation analyses, oversee the work of Associates and Financial Analysts, and interface directly with clients.

Requirements

  • At least six years of experience in financial services with at least three years of investment banking, valuation or related experience
  • Experience in energy & infrastructure subsectors, ideally including Oil & Gas
  • Advanced accounting, finance, financial modeling and analytical abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing associates, analysts or other personnel
  • Be an independent thinker and resourceful problem solver driven to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a very strong work ethic, organizational skills and ability to multi-task

  • An undergraduate degree with academic distinction and/or a graduate degree
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff
  • Engineers by background with Oil & Gas experience and a desire for a more financially oriented position

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a project manager on multiple simultaneous client projects
  • Analyzing and explaining historical and projected financial information
  • Performing business and financial due diligence
  • Valuing companies, businesses and securities
  • Directing Associates and Financial Analysts in the construction of complex financial models, financial analyses and client presentations
  • Preparing board/special committee presentations supporting advice and opinions in close collaboration with the Corporate Finance team and other industry experts across the firm
  • Helping pitch engagements and participating in business development initiatives
  • Advising financial sponsors on conflict transactions, including continuation vehicles and cross-fund transactions
  • Playing a key role in continuing to build the Energy & Infrastructure Financial and Valuation Advisory coverage team
  • Building relationships and maintaining direct contact with current and prospective clients
