About The Position

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is seeking a Vice President of Academic Programs (VPAP) for its Global Campus (GC). This role provides strategic leadership in the implementation and assessment of learning experiences, focusing on student outcomes for over 200,000 students. The VPAP is responsible for the performance and training of clinical and part-time faculty in online academic programs, and provides direction on key metrics such as faculty and student success, retention, graduation, completion, academic rigor, integrity, and quality. The VPAP leads a team including Schedule Forecasting and Faculty Services, Academic Associate Vice Presidents, Executive Directors, and Deans across graduate and undergraduate studies, overseeing more than 9,000 part-time and full-time employees. This position reports to the Deputy Provost and collaborates with other Vice Presidents to ensure student success in high-quality academic programs. The VPAP also works with peers across traditional ground campus, competency-based, alternative credentials, and international divisions to ensure cohesion across all university learning experiences. SNHU requires readiness to navigate multiple modalities (traditional, online, CBE) and understand policy application across units. The VPAP ensures excellence and accountability at all levels, from themselves to adjunct faculty, and is a key partner in academic procedures, governance, and accreditation. The role demands a commitment to student success and team support, excelling in an environment that values both.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of administrative and academic experience at/above/equivalent to Dean Level.
  • Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Substantial direct experience with online education.
  • Knowledge of different learning models.
  • Experience with organizational development, change, and culture.
  • Experience with curriculum development and outcomes assessment.
  • Experience working with accreditation organizations.
  • Acquire and use data to identify opportunities for improvement in student success metrics and learning experiences.
  • Balance traditional academic practices the expressed mission of expanding higher education to underserved, unserved and underrepresented populations by increasing accessibility and affordability.
  • Employees must reside in, and work from, one of the approved remote states.
  • Access to a reliable internet connection and a dedicated, properly equipped workspace that is free of distractions.
  • Reliability and occasional onsite presence are essential functions of this role.

  • Understanding of business systems of higher education (SIS, CRM, portals, LMS, and curriculum management).

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership, development and accountability in curriculum development, faculty effectiveness, and academic policy development.
  • Work with other Vice Presidents, Associate Vice Presidents, Executive Directors, Administrators and Deans to achieve Global Campus goals.
  • Promote communication among partners with an emphasis on communication with Academics, Marketing, Advising and Admissions, product, campus, and other units to ensure student success.
  • Operate as an important partner in the development and assessment of student learning experiences including programs, courses and micro credentials.
  • Have stewardship over budgets within academic management.
  • Become a visible representative of the University at professional conferences and member organization events.
  • Ensure excellence and accountability in performance and behavior at every level, starting with themselves and continuing throughout the academic management organization from academic associate vice presidents to adjunct faculty.
  • Partner in academic procedures, academic governance, and accreditation activities.
