The Vice Chair of Education Administration is responsible and accountable for serving as an administrative partner to the dean of Education for the respective site. This role involves overseeing and executing the College of Medicine and Science Operating Plan, along with assigned work unit plans, in conjunction with the shield Chair. Participation in Enterprise-wide education administrative activities is crucial, including the sharing of best practices, initiation of quality management systems, and staffing to workload metrics. The Vice Chair is expected to provide strong leadership, guidance, and direction to achieve operational and service excellence and effective, compliant management of all Education administration activities at Mayo Clinic. This position participates in system-wide strategic planning for Education and performs system-wide administrative functions to support the institutional mission and Education vision. The Vice Chair is expected to collaborate with physicians, scientists, and administration leaders throughout the Mayo Clinic enterprise to help transform Mayo Clinic's mission and Mayo Clinic's Education vision into daily operations. Responsibilities include administrative oversight of assigned support units within the College of Medicine, accountability for strategic planning, financial management, and performance management of the assigned units and site. In collaboration with other senior administrative roles, this position is responsible for the administrative oversight of the Education Strategic Project Portfolio and/or Education Administration Integration initiatives. Support is provided through the role as Administrator/Committee Secretary for assigned areas of responsibility. The Vice Chair is responsible for the administrative oversight of College of Medicine regulation and accreditation requirements as related to Higher Learning Commission accreditation. This role assumes administrative responsibility for special projects as assigned by the shield Administrative Chair, utilizing expertise in organizational relationships, fiscal management, institutional resource allocation, and strategic planning. This includes analysis of complex or organizational relationships, development of recommendations for change, and communication to appropriate groups. Collaboration with the enterprise education leadership team on the overall strategic planning and management of the financial and capital resources of the College of Medicine and for the assigned units is expected. An institutional perspective is provided to departmental and program decisions to integrate with Clinical Practice, Research, and Human Resources. Establishing relationships with external agencies and organizations to enhance knowledge of the education environment and visibility of Mayo's Education programs, and to establish and nurture collaborations and partnerships that support Mayo goals is also a key function. Active involvement with external academic medicine professional organizations is required.
