This Veterinary Technician position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program, which supports youth aged 15 to 30 by offering paid summer work experience and skill development opportunities. The role primarily involves providing direct care for animals, including compassionate pre and post-operative support. Responsibilities also encompass maintaining a healthy environment through routine grooming, housekeeping, and disinfection tasks such as kennel cleaning and laundry. Beyond animal care, the position requires strong customer service and administrative duties related to client interactions, which are considered crucial for the clinic's overall success.

Requirements

• Be aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
• Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada

Responsibilities

• Greeting clients and answering general inquiries regarding pre and post-op care
• Providing pre and post op care to the animals in our trust, under the direction of the RVT’s and Veterinarians
• Handling and soothing animals during examinations, treatments, and vaccinations
• Recording relevant information about animals, including weight and types of medication given
• General housekeeping and/or disinfection of the clinic including sterilization of hospital/medical equipment, cleaning floors and counter tops, crates etc.
• Conduct animal transfers where appropriate
