About The Position
Big Thicket Veterinary Clinic in Cleveland, TX is a mixed animal practice providing care for small animals and large animals. We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Veterinary Technician who enjoys variety in their day and is passionate about working with both companion animals and large animal patients. Requirements
- Veterinary technician with prior clinical experience preferred
- Comfortable working with dogs, cats, and large animals including horses
- Confident with animal restraint and patient handling
- Dependable, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Nice To Haves
- Mixed animal or large animal experience is a plus (not required)
- Willingness to assist with farm calls and ambulatory services when needed
- Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with small and large animal exams
- Provide restraint for dogs, cats, and large animal patients
- Assist with field calls and ambulatory appointments
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures
- Assist with equine and large animal procedures when needed
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement (small animal)
- Laboratory procedures and in-house diagnostics
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Radiology positioning and safety protocols
- Hospitalized patient care and monitoring
- Client communication and education
- Maintain accurate medical records and charges
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the clinic and treatment areas
