About The Position

Spruce Hill Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to join their close-knit, pet-obsessed team. This role is hands-on and patient-focused, involving both medical care and client communication. The clinic is looking for someone who wants to help lead the hospital into the future, with opportunities for mentorship and growth. Spruce Hill has served the Springfield community for over 40 years and is known for its supportive team, strong workflows, and commitment to quality medicine. They are a full-service small animal hospital that also supports wildlife rehabilitators and offers services like routine soft tissue surgery, dentistry with digital dental radiography, and in-house lab equipment.

Requirements

  • Veterinary technician experience
  • Strong foundational clinical and technical skills
  • Comfortable handling patients of various sizes and temperaments
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive, team-focused mindset with a desire to keep learning

Responsibilities

  • Assisting doctors with exams, procedures, and surgeries
  • Confident blood draws on both dogs and cats
  • Administering medications and vaccinations
  • Understanding and following vaccine protocols
  • Compassionate and effective restraint and low-stress handling techniques
  • Involvement in patient diagnostics including lab work and imaging
  • Delivering exceptional customer service through client education
  • Explaining treatment plans, vaccine protocols, preventive care, and post-operative instructions clearly and confidently
  • Mentoring assistants, supporting externs, and helping newer team members build confidence
  • Contributing to the future direction of the practice
