About The Position

PAZ Veterinary West in Austin, Texas, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician for its small-animal practice. The role supports veterinarians with hands-on patient care, examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and surgical procedures in a fast-paced clinical environment. The technician helps provide attentive, compassionate care and contributes to patient comfort and safety while working collaboratively with doctors and the veterinary team. Compensation is $18–$19 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. The practice offers benefits, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for career development and training. Previous Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience is strongly preferred; on-the-job training may be considered for the right candidate.

Requirements

Comfort handling dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments.
Experience with IV catheter placement, blood draws, and surgical anesthesia monitoring.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and reliability.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.

Nice To Haves

Previous Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience is strongly preferred.
On-the-job training may be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, diagnostic testing, and surgical procedures.
Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture and blood draws.
Restrain and handle patients.
Perform laboratory diagnostics.
Monitor patients under general anesthesia and sedation, including tracking vital signs.
Support surgical recovery and help ensure patient comfort and safety.
Maintain accurate medical records.
