About The Position

The Veterinary Assistant will help veterinarians provide excellent medical care, support clients with pet-care education, and contribute to a friendly and organized hospital. Requirements

• At least 1 year of veterinary clinical experience.
• Knowledge of veterinary industry tools and equipment.
• Ability to obtain accurate and thorough medical histories.
• Experience drawing blood from cephalic, saphenous, and jugular sites.
• Experience placing IV catheters.
• Experience with digital radiology, including patient positioning.
• Dentistry skills, including digital dental X-rays, scaling, and polishing.
• Anesthesia skills, including induction, intubation, monitoring, and aseptic technique.
• Laboratory skills including ear and fecal cytology and use of HM5, Vetscan, and Sedivue equipment.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and contributes positively to a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines.
• Collect laboratory samples and maintain accurate patient records.
• Educate clients on pet care.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
