About The Position

Renton Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animal patients. The role is hands-on and team-oriented in a fast-paced clinical environment, with a focus on animal welfare, patient care, and communication with pet owners. The starting wage is $21.57 per hour, dependent on experience. This is a full-time position working 32–40 hours per week, with availability Monday through Friday and potential need for Saturday availability in the future.

Requirements

At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
Knowledge of veterinary industry tools and equipment.
Passion for working with animals and their owners.
Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.
Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Strong multitasking skills and attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift and handle animals of all sizes.
Positive attitude and commitment to exceptional patient care and client communication.

Nice To Haves

Prior veterinary assistant or directly related experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace to help keep the clinic running smoothly.
Prepare and clean examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment.
Comfort pets and their owners, offering empathy and education during challenging moments.
Restrain animals during examinations or treatments.
Maintain accurate medical records and document patient care.
Communicate with pet owners, providing support and education about general care and post-treatment instructions.
Perform varied tasks, including administering medications and managing inventory.
