About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Levittown, PA is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technicians to join our thriving Emergency and Critical Care team. This role involves inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia, triaging emergency cases, performing digital radiography, and managing patient vital signs. The technician will also be responsible for calculating medical math, administering medications, placing catheters and feeding tubes, and mentoring other co-workers. A passion for client communication and empathy is also essential.

Requirements

  • Experienced Veterinary Technician
  • Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Ability to place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Ability to mentor and train other co-workers.
  • Patience and empathy to address client concerns.
  • Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
