About The Position

The Veterinary Technician will be responsible for greeting clients and patients, documenting patient visits, assisting veterinarians with appointments and procedures, performing patient restraint, collecting and processing laboratory samples, handling and dispensing medications, checking out clients, scheduling appointments, communicating with and educating clients, and providing in-hospital treatments for sick patients. The role also involves collaborating with the team, maintaining a clean hospital environment, and participating in training initiatives. Additional duties may include providing backup phone and front desk support.

Requirements

2+ years of veterinary technician experience preferred
Skilled in: venipuncture and IV catheter placement
Skilled in: patient restraint and treatments
Skilled in: Diagnostic imaging and in house labs
Strong communication and client education skills
Positive attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment
Flexible schedule availability including rotating Saturdays

Responsibilities

Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments or walk-ins and obtain weight and vital signs.
Document the patient visit in the medical record by obtaining and recording a thorough patient history.
Assist veterinarian with appointments (routine and urgent), and euthanasia's, taking direct supervision from the veterinarian(s) or Hospital Lead on Duty.
Perform patient restraint, obtain and collect process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications at the direction of the veterinarian, and input in medical record.
Check out clients, schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results to doctor and clients.
Educate clients on preventive care, dental hygiene, nutrition, and more.
Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients including giving injectable and oral medications as well as intravenous therapies; keep patients clean, watered, and fed (when indicated and directed by veterinarian), and safely walk canine patients when necessary for elimination.
Collaborate with the team to create a positive work environment and assist with onboarding new employees.
Keep hospital environment neat and clean; perform regular cleaning.
Participate in ongoing training and hospital improvement initiatives.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Provide backup phone and front desk support as needed.
