About The Position

Wells Dog and Cat Hospital is a long-standing general practice hospital with deep ties to the community, located on the scenic coastline in beautiful Wells, Maine. We're currently looking to hire an Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running bloodwork, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.

Requirements

  • Experienced as a Veterinary Technician
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment is a plus.
  • Experience working with these tools is even better
  • Passion for working with animals and their owners
  • Ability to learn proper animal handling, fear-free training, and restraint
  • Ability to learn common treatments and processes normally found in a veterinary hospital setting
  • Excellent communication and ability to gain strong organizational skills
  • Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant
  • Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.
  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not .

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
  • Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines
  • Collect lab samples and maintain accurate patient records
  • Educate clients on pet care and ensure a clean, organized work environment
