Chino Valley Animal Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals and located in Chino Valley, AZ is looking for an experienced full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Team! Our Veterinary Technicians are responsible for performing basic medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required.
  • Vet tech experience is highly preferred.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to act as a team player.
  • Basic veterinary medical terminology required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
  • Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
  • Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow up.
  • Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.
  • Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
  • Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
  • Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of practice software for dispensing veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian.
  • Must have clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarian.
  • Perform tech appointments, such as pedicures, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, routine lab work, subcutaneous fluids, etc. as deemed appropriate by practice.
  • Assist doctors in medical and diagnostic procedures.
  • Place IV catheters and begin fluid therapy when required by veterinarian.
  • Assist in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia with doctor present.
  • Assist in operating room, recovery, and post op-nursing care as requested by veterinarian.
  • Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
