Requirements

  • Prior experience working as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant is required
  • Comfortable working in exam rooms and supporting client-facing appointments
  • Experience with blood draws, placing IV catheters, injections, vaccines, and client education
  • Familiarity with basic lab work and medical record systems
  • Calm, compassionate animal handling skills
  • Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a team-first mindset
  • Desire to continue learning and growing within the veterinary field
  • This role is a great fit for someone earlier in their career but still has had experience working in a veterinary hospital and who seeks mentorship, skill development, and consistent support from an experienced team.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed or certified veterinary technicians in New Jersey is preferred, but licensure is not required

Responsibilities

  • Supporting doctors during wellness and sick appointments
  • Assisting with patient restraint, sample collection, and treatments
  • Drawing blood, placing IV catheters, running in-house lab work, and preparing samples for send-out testing
  • Administering vaccines and medications as directed
  • Discussing vaccine protocols, preventive care, and post-visit instructions with clients
  • Providing compassionate, low-stress patient handling and nursing care
  • Supporting anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and dental procedures as trained veterinary technician
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation
  • Collaborating with technicians, assistants, and CSRs to keep appointments running smoothly
