About The Position

Companion Veterinary Hospital of Wayne is seeking an experienced Full-Time Veterinary Technician to join their team. This role is ideal for a technician who is confident in their technical skills, enjoys patient care, and values client relationships. The position offers variety, with responsibilities ranging from clinical care and procedure support to client education and support. The hospital emphasizes a warm, personalized approach to veterinary medicine, providing preventive care, same-day sick appointments, dentistry, surgery, and more, ensuring both pets and their owners feel comfortable and supported.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.

  • Surgical and anesthesia experience is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Assisting veterinarians with appointments, exams, treatments, and patient care
  • Safe patient handling and restraint
  • Venipuncture and blood collection
  • IV catheter placement
  • Preparing and running in-house laboratory samples
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed
  • Obtaining patient histories and communicating clearly with pet owners
  • Preparing patients and the hospital for surgical and dental procedures
  • Assisting with anesthesia monitoring and surgical recovery based on experience
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Supporting prescription requests, scheduling, phone communication, and other client-service responsibilities
  • Helping create a welcoming, compassionate experience from the moment a client contacts the hospital through the completion of their visit
  • Working collaboratively with doctors and teammates to keep the day organized and patient care moving smoothly
