We are seeking a Veterinary Technician (credentialed or experienced) to join our growing small animal practice in downtown New Haven, just steps from Yale’s campus. Veterinary Wellness Center of New Haven is a full-service animal care facility providing preventive, medical, surgical, and dental services to pets throughout New Haven, Hamden, West Haven, East Haven, North Haven, and surrounding communities. Our clinic is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, including in-house lab equipment (Idexx), digital diagnostics, and pharmacy services. We also maintain strong relationships with local specialists, including access to 24-hour emergency and specialty care. Requirements

  • CVT / LVT / RVT or experienced Veterinary Technician/Assistant
  • Strong knowledge of animal care, disease processes, and triage
  • Experience with venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, or surgery preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn and grow

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
  • Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Conduct dental cleanings and maintain dental equipment
  • Collect patient medical histories and communicate findings with clients
  • Perform venipuncture, blood pressure readings, and technical procedures
  • Run in-house lab diagnostics (Idexx) and prepare samples for reference labs
  • Support radiology and diagnostic imaging
  • Safely restrain animals for exams and procedures
  • Fill prescriptions, calculate dosages, and support pharmacy operations
  • Educate clients on preventive care, treatment plans, and wellness
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sterile treatment and surgical areas
