About The Position

Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital is looking for a highly motivated, highly skilled individual to join our team. We provide 24-hour emergency service and specialty referrals in surgery. We are looking for technicians and assistants who want to utilize their skills to the fullest potential in a moderate paced, fun, and stimulating environment. Our focuses are quality ER medicine, patient care and client care. We are currently seeking a qualified technician or assistant for our first shift emergency team. This role functions with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility; solid technical skills, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and with a team are required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of veterinary experience (emergency experience required)

Nice To Haves

  • Current RVT in NC or eligible for NC registration

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with specialty and emergency veterinarians
  • Participation in nurse rounds
  • Triage incoming patients presenting on emergency
  • Assess patient stability and obtain patient vital signs
  • Perform diagnostics and treatments of emergency and hospitalized patients
  • Perform hourly patient assessment and monitoring
  • Observe patients and recognize changes in status
  • Place peripheral and central catheters
  • Restrain patients for exams and treatments
  • Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids
  • Maintain urinary catheters
  • Bandage removal and application
  • Perform suture and drain removal
  • Perform drug dose calculations for injectable medications and CRIs
  • Administer injectable medications (IV, IM, SQ)
  • Administer other medications (PO, OU, AU)
  • Maintain isolation protocols for infectious patients
  • Basic wound cleaning and care
  • Administer injectable and inhalant anesthesia
  • Monitor patients while under anesthesia and maintain a monitoring log
  • Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia
  • Obtain samples for and perform in house laboratory testing
  • Assist in CPCR
