About The Position

AVECCC in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician Supervisor to lead our technical team in a high-volume 24-hour emergency and critical care hospital. This full-time role offers $23–$29/hour, a 3/12 schedule, and the opportunity to combine hands-on veterinary nursing with technician leadership, staff development, scheduling, and hospital operations. Arizona Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center (AVECCC) is a 24-hour veterinary emergency, critical care, and specialty hospital providing advanced and complex patient care. Our team works alongside highly skilled emergency and specialty veterinarians while supporting a culture focused on professional growth, teamwork, and career development. Requirements

  • 3–4 years of veterinary technical experience
  • 3–4 years of veterinary emergency experience
  • 2–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong veterinary nursing and technical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage daily workflow
  • Professional, dependable, and solution-oriented approach to leadership
  • Ability to coach and develop team members while holding staff accountable to hospital standards

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Veterinary Technicians and Technician Assistants, with a particular focus on developing Technician Leads.
  • Provide clinical guidance and ensure appropriate veterinary nursing techniques, patient care standards, and client service practices are followed.
  • Partner with the Lead Training Coordinator to improve technical training, onboarding, competency development, and staff leveling.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and development of technical team members.
  • Schedule and conduct regular Technician Lead meetings, ensuring training priorities and "Skill of the Week" topics are communicated throughout the team.
  • Monitor staffing levels and maintain the technical schedule, helping fill coverage gaps across shifts when needed.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and department leads to address equipment, laboratory, radiology, surgery, isolation, and supply needs.
  • Help identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions that improve patient care, workflow, safety, and team efficiency.
  • Support employee engagement and retention by identifying development opportunities, addressing concerns, and building a positive team culture.
  • Assist with resolving client concerns and maintaining high standards of customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, OSHA requirements, safety standards, and applicable veterinary protocols.
