Veterinary Technician Specialist, Anesthesia
About The Position
Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital (MVRH) is seeking a full-time VTS Anesthesia Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Woburn, MA. This is an opportunity to work alongside boarded anesthesiologists supporting advanced specialty and critical care procedures in a collaborative, high-level referral environment. As a Level 1 trauma center, MVRH provides advanced emergency, surgical, and specialty care across multiple departments. Our anesthesia team plays a critical role in supporting complex cases while utilizing advanced technical and critical thinking skills every day.
Requirements
- VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) required
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT) required
- Previous veterinary anesthesia experience required
- Strong technical, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty veterinary hospital environment
- Positive, team-oriented mindset
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement anesthetic plans for specialty and critical care patients
- Prepare patients for anesthesia, induction, and intubation
- Monitor anesthesia during orthopedic, soft tissue, thoracic, neurologic, and ophthalmic procedures
- Perform advanced technical skills including: Venipuncture, Arterial catheter placement, Local blocks and epidurals
- Provide post-operative recovery monitoring and patient care
- Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and specialty teams
- Support technician training and mentorship
- Participate in voluntary overnight anesthesia on-call rotation
