We are looking for a Veterinary Technician to work in our Radiation Oncology Department. Our board-certified Radiation Oncologists care for patients with a variety of oncological conditions using state-of-the-art advanced imaging and radiation treatment techniques. Technicians and assistants within the department are vital to the wellbeing of our patients, coordinating with specialists and staff across all specialties and providing the highest standard of nursing care. Our ideal candidate has experience in specialty veterinary medicine with keen attention to detail and an exemplary ability to manage multiple tasks at once.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting.
  • Skilled in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, drug calculations, and other technical skills.
  • Strong medical math skills and experience with drug calculations.
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness in work, with a focus on accuracy, especially in critical moments.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Compassionate, detail-oriented, and a team player.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for oncology or specialty practice experience.
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist with exams, diagnostic procedures, and radiation treatments.
  • Monitor patients at risk for cardiac and respiratory arrest and initiate CPR as needed.
  • Perform patient assessments using various monitoring techniques and communicate with pet owners about their pet's history and at-home care.
  • Utilize diagnostics including MRI, CT, and radiology.
  • Obtain and handle patient samples for in-house and reference lab testing.
  • Provide intensive monitoring for oncology patients before, during, and after procedures, ensuring patients' safety and comfort.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Advocate for the well-being and comfort of patients from admission to discharge.
