About The Position

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, day shift position in the Oncology Service for a Veterinary Attendant. The role is responsible for the care of inpatients and requires compassion, excellent communication skills, and empathy when dealing with patients and clients. The Attendant will assist in the examination room with outpatients and in-patient procedures, provide animal restraint for radiation therapy and chemotherapy administration, and assist with the management of animals admitted to the hospital. The Attendant supports veterinarians and technicians in the oncology area, radiation therapy, and other hospital areas as needed. The position requires knowledge of animal handling skills and the ability to communicate veterinary clinical information orally and in writing to clients and staff. Requirements

At least 6 months of current professional animal handling experience in the Animal Care industry
Knowledge of animal handling skills
Ability to communicate orally and in writing veterinary specific clinical information regarding services to our clients and other hospital staff
Compassion, excellent communication skills and empathy dealing with patients and clients

Responsibilities

Providing assistance in the examination room with outpatients and in-patient procedures
Animal restraint for radiation therapy and chemotherapy administration
Assisting with management of animals admitted to the hospital
Assisting the veterinarian and technicians in the oncology area, radiation therapy and in any other area of the hospital as needed
Interacting with all staff members and clients in a positive and dynamic manner
Providing assistance and advice following hospital policies and procedure
