About The Position

This is a full-time opportunity for a Veterinary Technician specializing in overnight emergency care at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. The role involves caring for critically ill and injured patients overnight, working alongside experienced emergency veterinarians, specialists, and skilled technicians. The hospital is a 24/7 specialty facility with a diverse emergency caseload and advanced technology. It offers a broad range of specialty services including Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, Cardiology, Anesthesia, Radiology, Acupuncture, and advanced imaging. Requirements

  • Previous emergency or critical care experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of emergency disease processes, patient assessment, and treatment protocols.
  • Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, medication administration, and fluid therapy.
  • Confidence working independently in an overnight emergency environment.
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred but not required.
  • Anesthesia experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients during overnight shifts.
  • Calculate, administer, and monitor medications and treatments accurately and safely.
  • Recognize subtle changes in patient condition and intervene appropriately to support patient stability and comfort.
  • Place IV catheters, perform venipuncture, and provide advanced fluid therapy.
  • Operate and monitor IV fluid pumps and other critical patient care equipment.
  • Assist veterinarians with emergency diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records while communicating effectively with the clinical team.
  • Collaborate closely with emergency veterinarians and specialty departments to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Support hospitalized patients with compassionate, high-quality nursing care throughout their stay.
  • Work independently while maintaining excellent communication and teamwork during overnight shifts.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.
