About The Position

Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is opening a second location in Dunwoody, Georgia, in October 2026 and is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs), Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), and highly skilled Veterinary Assistants with backgrounds in Emergency Medicine, Neurology, Critical Care, Surgery, Anesthesia, or Specialty Medicine. Selected candidates will begin onboarding and training at their Marietta hospital in September 2026, working alongside experienced professionals before transitioning to the new Dunwoody facility. This is an opportunity to help build a premier specialty and emergency hospital. The hospital is also expanding specialty services and anticipates future opportunities in Surgery and Anesthesia, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology), Dermatology, Medical Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Emergency and Critical Care (ER/ECC). Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
  • Experience supporting patient care within Specialty, Emergency, ICU, Surgery, Anesthesia, or high-volume General Practice environments.
  • Strong veterinary nursing and patient care skills.
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and hospitalized patient care.
  • Confidence with venipuncture, catheter placement, and laboratory diagnostics.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty referral environment.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Lift, carry, and assist in restraining patients weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance available when appropriate.
  • Safely handle animals of varying sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical conditions.
  • Perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity, including patient restraint, venipuncture, medication administration, anesthesia monitoring, and equipment operation.
  • Work in a fast-paced specialty veterinary hospital environment with frequent movement between treatment, imaging, ICU, surgery, and specialty care areas.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, specialists, veterinarians, and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).
  • Previous experience supporting Neurology, Neurosurgery, Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, or Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Experience with advanced anesthesia monitoring.
  • Familiarity with MRI and CT workflows.
  • Ventilator management experience.
  • RECOVER CPR Certification.
  • Advanced training in Anesthesia, Emergency and Critical Care, or Specialty Medicine.
  • Strong attention to detail and clinical precision.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during complex cases.
  • Passion for advanced medicine and neurologic patient care.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with neurologic examinations and patient assessments.
  • Support patients with seizure disorders, IVDD, paresis, paralysis, and other neurologic conditions.
  • Provide high-level nursing care for hospitalized neurologic patients.
  • Monitor patient comfort, mobility, and neurologic status throughout hospitalization.
  • Assist with long-term neurologic case management and recovery plans.
  • Prepare patients for neurology procedures and advanced diagnostics.
  • Perform anesthesia induction, intubation, and patient preparation.
  • Monitor anesthesia utilizing ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, blood pressure monitoring, and temperature monitoring.
  • Assist with advanced neurologic procedures and neurosurgical cases.
  • Manage high-risk anesthetic patients and support ventilated cases.
  • Support safe patient recovery and post-operative monitoring.
  • Assist with MRI and CT workflows.
  • Prepare and position patients for advanced imaging procedures.
  • Support cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) collection procedures and neurologic diagnostics.
  • Ensure diagnostic accuracy through proper patient preparation and monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with Radiology and specialty teams.
  • Partner with Emergency and ICU teams for continuity of care.
  • Assist with stabilization of neurologic emergencies.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Participate in CPR and emergency response efforts.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
  • Support continuity of care across Neurology, Surgery, Imaging, ICU, and Emergency services.
  • Maintain specialty equipment and treatment areas.
  • Uphold the highest standards of patient safety and medical excellence.
