Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine ($5,000 Sign-On Bonus)
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department in Lafayette! This role involves acting as a liaison between internists and clients, managing patient histories, care instructions, lab results, and patient updates. The position requires client interaction via phone, email, and in-person. Key responsibilities include assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x-rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills are essential. The role also involves setting up constant rate infusions (CRI), performing medical math, inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia, setting up for ultrasound and radiology, assisting with and cleaning equipment for endoscopic procedures, and discharging patients with client education on topics like insulin injections, SQ fluids, and feeding tube demonstrations. Additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician.
- Strong anesthesia skills.
- Strong phlebotomy skills.
- Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between internists and clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, and patient updates.
- Interact with clients through phone calls, email, and in-person conversations.
- Assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures.
- Fill prescriptions.
- Take x-rays.
- Obtain lab samples.
- Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
- Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI.
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia.
- Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
- Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway).
- Clean and maintain equipment following procedures.
- Discharge Internal Medicine patients from the hospital.
- Provide basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
