About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department. As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you will act as a liaison between internists and clients, handling patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will engage in client contact via phone, email, and in-person. Additionally, you will assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, fill prescriptions, take x-rays, and obtain lab samples. Requirements

  • Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician
  • Strong anesthesia skills
  • Strong phlebotomy skills
  • Possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors.
  • Be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations.
  • Assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures.
  • Fill prescriptions.
  • Take x-rays.
  • Obtain lab samples.
  • Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
  • Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
  • Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
  • Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway).
  • Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.
  • Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.
