Veterinary Technician Internal Medicine
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department. This role serves as a liaison between internists and clients, handling patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other doctor-requested topics. The technician will engage with clients via phone, email, and in-person conversations. Additionally, responsibilities include assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x-rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills are required. Requirements
- Strong anesthesia skills.
- Strong phlebotomy skills.
- Possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between internists and clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors.
- Be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations.
- Assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures.
- Fill prescriptions.
- Take x-rays.
- Obtain lab samples.
- Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
- Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
- Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
- Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
- Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway).
- Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.
- Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
