About The Position

Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center (VERC) of Hawaii is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Technician, Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, Specialty Veterinary Technician, or experienced Veterinary Assistant with strong technical skills and anesthesia fluency who is interested in advanced diagnostics, scope procedures, and specialty patient care. VERC is a 24-hour Emergency and Specialty veterinary hospital serving pets and families throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Our collaborative team provides advanced veterinary medicine supported by an in-house laboratory, ultrasound, CT, MRI, endoscopy, and other advanced diagnostic capabilities.

Requirements

  • Previous hands-on veterinary clinical experience.
  • Strong technical veterinary nursing skills and anesthesia fluency.
  • Confidence with patient preparation, anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Experience assisting veterinarians with procedures, diagnostics, and hospitalized patient care.
  • Strong venipuncture, sample collection, patient monitoring, and medication administration skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Internal Medicine, Specialty, Emergency, ICU, anesthesia, endoscopy, or advanced diagnostic experience preferred.
  • Veterinary Technician credentialing or licensing preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled nursing care for Internal Medicine patients.
  • Support common scope procedures, including patient preparation, induction, anesthetic monitoring, and recovery.
  • Obtain and process blood, urine, fluid aspirates, and other diagnostic samples.
  • Assist veterinarians with Internal Medicine procedures and advanced diagnostics.
  • Support diagnostic imaging including radiographs, ultrasound, endoscopy, and CT.
  • Administer and monitor sedation and anesthesia, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient status.
  • Admit and discharge patients and educate clients regarding medications, treatments, disease processes, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and specialty teams to provide exceptional patient care.
